Bembridge Community Library is currently run as an independently registered charity. The library service in Bembridge is provided by volunteers from the local community and continued links with the Isle of Wight Library Service.
We have a set of unpaid trustees who are responsible for the governance of the library. There is a voluntary management committee consisting of trustees and others who take care of the day to day operation of the library and the fundraising activities to secure the library’s day to day operation and its ongoing financial viability. In addition there are about 30 volunteers who regularly work at the library. It is because of their hard work and dedication that we have a library in Bembridge.
The Isle of Wight Council library service provide the books, regular stock rotation and specialist support and advice, as well as the IT equipment needed to stay integrated with the Island’s library service. The library itself now manages all aspects of the building and infrastructure..
